For the Love of Bubble Tea….
Bubble tea lovers, listen up….
Last Friday night whilst in the mood for some karaoke and bubble tea, my friend and I went to the usual place to get our fix. The Utopia Bubble Tea on the second floor in Northbridge. However once we got there, the rooms were full, and we were in need of some serious karaoke sessions seeing as neither of us has dealt with this addiction in months! We were planning on waiting patiently for the next two hours so that we could get our spot o’ singing and the sweet, squishy love that is bubble tea (what were you thinking?). Then something caught my eye. On the wall, was a poster that advertised that the Utopia in Myaree, now has karaoke!!!!! Needless to say, my friend and I had an unspoken understanding. TO MYAREE!!!
So we headed back where we came from and went to check out how they managed to squeeze the karaoke booths into the teeny tiny little shop front. When we got there, I was pleasantly surprised to find that although I was only last there about two weeks ago, to do some grocery shopping, I hadn’t noticed that they had relocated across the car park into the old food court which use to house karaoke rooms upstairs. Although this Utopia does not serve cooked meals, they also sell cakes and bread. The Asian variety, which is the sweet breads and rolls with the fillings.
The entire place is quite large, and when we got there, there were quite a few people. I forgot how many karaoke rooms they have, as I was blinded by how shiny and new everything was. The karaoke machines are also new, so when we went to sing, everything had a bit of “Wow” to it. The prices for the bubble tea is the same, and the cakes and breads start from around $2 for a piece. I would put some pictures up, but I did not bring a camera with me, and the photos my friend took is of us strutting silly poses and cam-whoring, which I don’t think suits the purpose of this blog.
So if you are a Southie with a need to belt out a few tunes as off key as possible, or you are in need of a bubble tea fix, yet you don’t want to go into the city. Might I be so bold as to suggest Utopia?
BTW: Until October 31st 2007, they have an opening offer of a 10% discount.
Location, the little shopping hub along Leach Hwy in Myaree, behind the car dealerships.
